ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University baseball team swept Southwest Baptist in a doubleheader for the second time in two days. The Flyers piled on 20 runs against the Bearcats on Friday (April 29) only to win two more contests at the scores of 13-12 and 15-9 on Saturday afternoon (April 30).
Lewis recorded its 17
th win at home this season at Brennan Field, this year's Lewis baseball team now holds the program record for highest home winning percentage since joining the NCAA in 1981 at 85 percent.

Game 1: Lewis 13, Southwest Baptist 12
Southwest Baptist was the first to score after a base hit by Zeke Skinner brought Dean Hagenhoff home.
Tony Fleischauer (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) was able to help Lewis respond in the second inning after recording a double to right field, bringing
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) home to tie the game at one. Fleischauer would score later in the second inning as
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) notched an RBI single to left field, giving the Flyers a 2-1 lead.
After the Bearcats added two more runs in the top of the third,
Kevin Barry (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin) smashed a home run to right center field for the Flyers to tie the game at three.
Just like the third inning, Southwest Baptist tacked on two more runs at the top of the fourth, but Lewis put together another stretch to retake the lead.
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) doubled to right field and scored on a wild pitch to bring the score within one.
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) smacked a two-run home run that brought Keaty home and gave Lewis a 5-4 lead after the fourth inning.
Over the course of the next inning and a half, Southwest Baptist posted seven runs that gave the Bearcats a five-point advantage heading into the bottom of the sixth inning.
Lewis was trailing 12-7 then the Flyers managed to load the bases before an out and scored three runs after Headrick hit a double to right center field which scored Barry, Cantelo and
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly).
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) hit a double to right center which ended up scoring Headrick. Bilecki gave Lewis a 13-12 lead with a RBI single which scored Fleischauer.
Lewis would hold Southwest Baptist scoreless in the top of the seventh inning to pull through with the win as
Matt Helwig (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) picked up his third save of the season. Headrick led the Flyers going 4-for-4 at the plate with three runs scored and three RBI.
Game 2: Lewis 15, Southwest Baptist 9
Lewis struck first as
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) recorded an RBI single to left field that brought
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) home.
Southwest Baptist would tie the game at the top of the third inning but Lewis would respond with a home run by
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist) and a two-run home run by
Kevin Barry (Bartlett, Ill./South Elgin). Cantelo also had an RBI double that helped give Lewis a 5-1 lead with only one out.
The Flyers bats stayed hot in the third inning as
Patrick Keaty (South Elgin, Ill./South Elgin) smacked a three-run home run to right field. That would soon be followed up with another Bilecki home run to center field, extending the Lewis lead to eight.
Despite Southwest Baptist posting eight runs in the final three innings of the contest, Lewis was able to put up six of their own to maintain the lead and earn their 28
th win of the season.
Bilecki led the Flyers going 3-of-4 at the plate with two home runs, four runs scored and two RBI. Keaty and Barry had one home run a piece and while Keaty had three RBI while Barry had two.
Shane Gorman (Orland Park, Ill./Br. Rice) picked up the win in Game 2 for the Flyers as he pitched five innings, allowing five hits and striking out four.
