KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- The Lewis University men's basketball team struggled late in the second half against Rockhurst as the Hawks came out victorious 94-72 at Mason-Halpin Field House Saturday (Jan. 13).

SUMMARY
Rockhurst started the game with a three-pointer and jumper for an early 5-0 lead. Lewis responded with baskets from Warden and Renfro to make it a one-point game.
Moments later, the Hawks extended its lead out to 19-11 after going on a 8-2 run the next 90 seconds. The Flyers crawled back and scored nine straight to take a 20-19 lead with 10:38 left in the first half after Hill made a layup.
The Hawks got the ensuing bucket before Lewis knocked down back-to-back triples from
Anthony Sayles Jr. (Evanston, Ill./Notre Dame Prep) and Frericks to make it 26-21 Flyers. RU outscored Lewis 15-4 the next three minutes to give them a 36-30 lead.
Bartosz Kapustka (Poland/Orchard Lake St. Mary's) slammed home a dunk with 30 seconds left before the break, trying to give Lewis momentum going into the second half with Rockhurst leading 42-41.
Lewis started the second half strong after hitting back-to-back layups from Renfro and Frericks to give the Flyers a 45-42 lead early. Both teams traded baskets the next five minutes before the Flyers led 56-55 with 13:43 to go in the contest.
That was the last time Lewis would lead the rest of the game.
Devon Vanderheydt (Washington, Ill./Washington) knocked down a three-pointer which made it 67-65 Rockhurst with 10 minutes left but that was the closest it got the rest of the way.
Rockhurst went on to score 13 unanswered points the next four minutes for a 15-point lead (80-65). The Hawks capped off a 27-7 run the final 10 minutes of the contest to win 94-72.
