ROMEOVILLE, Ill. -- The Lewis University women's cross country team came in second place out of thirty six team at the Lewis Crossover on Saturday (Oct. 12). Lewis also placed second among other ranked teams in the event and finished above No. 2 ranked Grand Valley State University and No. 4 Augustana South Dakota. The Flyers finished with 114 points.
Leading the way for Lewis was senior
Sarah May (Elmhurst, Ill./Grand Valley State) who finished the 6K race with a time of 21:34.05. Fellow senior
Abbey Kozak (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) was the next Flyer to cross the finish line after May recording a final time of 21:39.44.
Senior
Caroline Pacer-Ryan (Wheaton, IL/West Chicago) (Wheaton, IL/West Chicago) finished next with a time of 21:45.85. Not far behind Pacer-Ryan was senior
Hannah Smrcka (Corry, Penn./Seton Hill) who crossed the finish line after recording a time of 21:50.53.
Senior
Naylah Allen (Oswego, Ill./Oswego East) was next to cross the finish line with a final time of 22:04.87. Two more Flyers had similar times with one being junior
Kate Guderjan (Frankfort, Ill./Lincolnway East) with a time of 22:13.99, and the other being sophomore
Mary Edwards (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central) who had a time of 22:16.39.
For the 6K open race, sophomore
Katie Melzer (Yorkville, Ill./Yorkville) finished first overall with a time of 23:21.23. Right behind Melzer in the top 5 as well, was freshman
Julie Macias (Midlothian, Ill./Bremen) who had a time of 23:46.57.
