SET BREAKDOWN vs. Rockhurst
Set 1: Lewis 25, Rockhurst 20
Both teams each scored four points early on to make it 4-4. Lewis rallied to score four out of the next five points for an 8-4 lead after a kill from Bajramovic.
Rockhurst responded with a 6-1 charge, giving the Hawks a 10-8 lead. The Hawks went ahead 16-15 afer a kill then the Flyers went on to score four straight including back-to-back kills from Ray and Stefanski.
The closest Rockhurst made it was 21-20 Lewis but the Flyers rallied off four straight points for the 25-20 set victory after a kill from Januski.
Set 2: Rockhurst 25, Lewis 21
Both teams each scored five points to start the second set. Rockhurst grabbed an early 8-5 lead after recording three straight points.
Moments later, the Hawks went up 17-15 late in the set before the Flyers were able to regain an 18-17 lead after scoring three straight points. Rockhurst quickly regained the lead after three straight points to make it 20-18.
Lewis scored the next two points to tie it but then the Hawks scored five out of the next six to win the set 25-21.
Set 3: Lewis 25, Rockhurst 23
Both teams traded rallies back-and-forth for most of the set. Rockhurst led 11-10 at the near halfway point of the set before rallying off five straight points which gave them a 16-10 lead.
Lewis did not give in as the Flyers scored five straight of its own and six out of seven to tie the set up at 17-17. Both teams went back-and-forth for the next 11 points which gave Rockhurst a 23-22 lead.
The Flyers ended the set with three straight points including back-to-back kills from Januski and an ace by Stefanski.
Set 4: Rockhurst 25, Lewis 23
It was 2-2 early to start the fourth set then Rockhurst went on to score six straight points to grab an early 8-2 lead. Lewis was able to outscore the Hawks 12-6 to tie the set at 14-14.
Moments later, Stefanski gave Lewis a 18-17 lead after recording a kill. However, that was the last lead for the Flyers in the set.
Rockhurst outscored Lewis 8-5 the rest of the set to force a winner-take-all fifth game.
Set 5: Lewis 15, Rockhurst 11
Lewis led 5-3 early in the set before Rockhurst responded with three straight of its own including a pair of kills to make it 6-5. Both teams traded the next two points and the Hawks led 7-6 but that would be the final time they led.
Rockhurst cut it down to 12-11 in favor of Lewis after a kill. Lewis went on to score the last three points of the match after a pair of attack errors by the Hawks gave Lewis the 15-11 set victory and the 3-2 match win.
