KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Lewis University men's soccer team recorded a shutout Sunday (Oct. 6) as the Flyers defeated host Rockhurst 1-0.

HALF BREAKDOWN
First Half: Lewis 1, Rockhurst 0
Rockhurst looked to grab an early lead in the contest after recording a shot attempt in the 2' but it went out high. Asore tried to give Lewis the lead after creating some space at the 13:17 mark but it was off target to keep it scoreless.
The Hawks found an opening in the defense trying to get on the board after recording a shot attempt but Doppelhofer saved it. A couple minutes later, Hernandez recorded a shot on goal attempt but the Hawks goalkeeper saved it.
Asore had a second shot attempt trying to break the scoreless tie but it went out right. The Flyers broke through and scored the lone goal of the contest after Henegar found Perez and scored the goal lower left from 23 yards out.
Arturs Gorodnickis (Riga, Latvia/Riga) looked to double the lead in the closing minutes of the first half but his shot was blocked.
Second Half: Lewis 0, Rockhurst 0
Rockhurst had the first two scoring chances in the second half as the Hawks recorded shots on target both in the 54' but Doppelhofer saved both.
Robert Gorodnickis (Riga, Latvia/Riga) had an opportunity to make it 2-0 in the 55' but the goalkeeper saved his shot.
Asore looked for an insurance goal after finding some space in the 68' but his shot was blocked, he grabbed the rebound and shot again but it was saved. Neither team recorded a shot the rest of the way as Lewis held on to win 1-0.
