Lewis pushed out ahead to begin the first half using the three point shot when Warden knocked one down to put the Flyers in front 8-5. Soon after Lewis followed up with two more three pointers made by Stroud and Warden again to secure a 16-10 lead.
From there the Flyers continued to pour it on with a 11-3 run over the course of six minutes. The UMSL drought was ended with a three point field goal and steal by Enright to the deficit to 11 at 27-16.
With under five minutes to go until the end of the first half, both teams began a back-and-forth battle until around the three minute mark. Stroud ended the half hot for the Flyers with a steal and fast-break layup and a foul to produce a three point play.
The Tritons recorded the last score of the half with a three point jumper by Enright bringing the difference to eight with a final score of 39-31.
Gibson opened up the scoring for Lewis in the second half after a two point jumper to advance the lead back to double digits. The scoring slowed until the 11 minute mark after two UMSL free throws followed by a two point jumper field goal by Warden.
Devon Vanderheydt (Washington, Ill./Washington) increased the lead to a dominating 20 points for the Flyers after a successful three point field goal. The remainder of the second half stayed consistent from there scoring-wise from both sides with no team capitalizing on any scoring runs.
The Tritons tried to spark some offense late in the game around the two minute mark but it came up short with too much of a deficit to work against, the game concluded with a final score of 81-61.
