ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Lewis University men's basketball team late comeback came up short against Maryville as the Saints won 63-62 Thursday (Feb. 1).

SUMMARY
Both teams each traded baskets including a Maryville three but Lewis responded with eight straight which was capped off by an and-one by Renfro which made it 12-5 Flyers.
Moments later,
Anthony Sayles Jr. (Evanston, Ill./Notre Dame Prep) and Frericks extended the lead out to 23-15 with 9:13 to play before the half. The Saints bounced back with nine unanswered points to grab an 24-23 advantage with 7:15 to play.
Lewis got back on track after Renfro made a layup and Vanderheydt knocked down a triple which made it 28-24. However, the Flyers were scoreless the final 5:32 of the first half while Maryville scored the last eight points to lead 32-28 at the break.
Both teams scored a basket to open the second half before Solomon converted on an and-one which made it 34-33 Saints. Every time the Flyers would make it close, Maryville would extend the lead back out the few minutes.
The Saints led 56-52 with 6:26 left in the game and then the Flyers were finally able to tie it after back-to-back baskets by Stroud and Frericks. Moments later, Hill gave the Flyers a 62-60 lead with his first bucket of the game with 3:05 remaining in the game.
Maryville regained the lead after knocking down a triple with 1:05 in the contest. Lewis had a chance to win it with two final shots but
Paxton Warden (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) and Solomon's shots were unable to fall.
