The Flyers ended the first quarter on a 9-0 run to secure a 19-9 lead after 10 minutes. Lewis was 3/6 (.500) from beyond the arc in the opening frame, while the Peacocks went just 1/7 (.143).

Upper Iowa scored the first five points of the second quarter and went on another 5-0 run midway through the frame to get within five points at 26-21. The Flyers responded with a 7-2 push, going 3/3 from the floor in the stretch, to bring the lead back to 10, 33-23.

The Peacocks made a pair of layups before halftime, making it 33-27 Lewis at the half. Upper Iowa shot much better in the second quarter, going 7/14 (.500) from the field.

Lily Courier (LaGrange, Ill./Lyons Township) made the first basket of the second half for the Flyers but the Peacocks responded by scoring the next six points to get within two, 35-33. Lewis went on a 10-4 run with four points from Badali to restore the lead to 45-37.

Upper Iowa wouldn't go down easily, though, later going on a 7-0 run to get back to down two, 47-45, late in the frame before a free throw by the Flyers made it 48-45 heading to the fourth quarter. Both teams struggled from distance in the third, with Lewis going 0/5 for three while Upper Iowa was 0/3.

After the Peacocks made the first shot of the final quarter, Hilber made back-to-back buckets for the Flyers. Both teams went back-and-forth from there until a big three-pointer from Gugliuzza put the Lewis lead at 60-54 with 4:15 to play.
