QUINCY, Ill. - The Lewis University men's basketball team was unable to hang on to its first half lead against Quincy as the Hawks defeated Lewis, 82-69, at Pepsi Arena Saturday (Feb. 17).

SUMMARY
Quincy jumped out to an early 8-4 lead in the first five minutes of the contest. Lewis responded with 11 unanswered points the next two minutes to grab a 15-8 lead.
The Hawks got the next basket before the Flyers responded with seven straight including a three-pointer by
Devon Vanderheydt (Washington, Ill./Washington). Moments later, Lewis was ahead 35-20 with 5:48 to go before Quincy slowly cut into the deficit.
Quincy closed out the first half on a 9-3 run which made it 38-29 Lewis at the break. The Hawks started the second half with a basket to cut it down to 38-31.
Frericks knocked down a triple to extend the Lewis lead to 43-33 but here came the Hawks. Quincy went on to score 17 points in a row the next six minutes for a 50-43 lead with 13 minutes to go.
Kirciman and Solomon made back-to-back layups including a three-point play by Solomon which made it 50-48 Quincy with 12:31 to play in the game. Quincy had the response after going on a 14-3 run to build on its lead.
The closest Lewis was able to get the rest of the way was nine points after Frericks converted on a three-point play to cut it down to 73-64 with under two minutes to go. Quincy went on to win, 82-69.
