Lewis Women's Basketball Wins Seventh Straight Game, 83-66 Over William Jewell

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University women's basketball team defeated William Jewell 83-66 Saturday (Feb. 24) for its seventh straight win.

GAME SUMMARY
Lewis jumped out early to a 4-0 lead before three three-pointers from William Jewell gave it a 9-8 lead. The Cardinals extended their lead to 17-10 and 20-13 before a basket by McNamee and a three-pointer from Hilber made it 20-18 after the first quarter.
 
The Flyers continued their run in the second quarter, scoring the first 11 points to make it 16 straight points. McNamee scored four more points in the run, while a Badali three-pointer made it 29-20.
 
Jewell stopped the run with a three-pointer, which kickstarted a 14-7 spurt to make it 36-34 with 3:44 left in the half. Hilber caught fire in the final four minutes of the half, scoring 10 of the final 12 points of the half for the Flyers as they took a 45-40 lead into the break.
 
The teams traded baskets to open the third quarter before Lewis pulled away with a 14-1 run to take a 64-46 lead led by Gugliuzza's five points. Four McNamee points to finish the quarter gave the Flyers a 71-54 lead after three.
 
Lewis built its lead to as many as 25 points at 81-56 with 6:05 left in the game before taking their seniors out for one final time at Neil Carey Arena.

The Flyers travel to Lebanon, Illinois to take on McKendree Thursday at 5:30 p.m.
