ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University men's basketball team fell in heartbreak fashion against Truman State as the Bulldogs won 60-59 at Neil Carey Arena Thursday (Feb. 8).

SUMMARY
Both teams traded a trio of baskets to start the game as Truman State led 7-6 early on. Lewis went on to score 18 unanswered points to grab a 24-7 advantage.
Vanderheydt started the run for the Flyers after knocking down back-to-back three-pointers. Truman responded with nine straight points to make it an eight point game (24-16) with 2:26 to play before the break.
Renfro ended the Lewis drought with a basket but the Bulldogs recorded back-to-back baskets to stay in the game. Renfro recorded the last basket of the first half for the Flyers as Lewis led 28-22 at the break.
Truman State started the second half on a 7-3 run to cut it down to 31-29 in favor of Lewis. The Flyers responded with two straight baskets from Hill and Renfro to swing momentum back over to Lewis.
Lewis went on a 12-2 run the next five minutes for a 43-31 lead with 12:25 to play in the game. Hill put Lewis ahead 49-39 with 8:32 to go in the game.
The Bulldogs cut it down to five with 5:42 remaining in the contest. Renfro slammed it down with 2:38 to play which made it 57-52 Lewis but Truman responded with a three-pointer.
Frericks knocked down a pair at the line with 2 minutes left to give Lewis a 59-55 lead but the Flyers would not score again the rest of the game. The Bulldogs responded right away with a basket to cut it down to two and then had the game-winning shot with just seconds left to win 60-59.
