MARION, Ill. - The eighth-seeded Lewis University baseball team lost, 11-9, against second seed Maryville Saturday (May 11) in the GLVC Tournament. With the loss, the Flyers' season comes to an end.

GAME SUMMARY
Lewis got on the board in the top of the first as
Mikey Kocen (Beach Park, Ill.) hit a solo home run. Maryville answered with one run in the bottom half to make it 1-1.
With the bases loaded and two outs in the second,
Chris McDevitt (Chicago, Ill./St. Rita) knocked a two-RBI double that scored
Michael Alt (Appleton, Wis./Kimberly) and
George Bilecki (Chicago, Ill./Marist).
Jason Krol (Chicago, Ill./St. Laurence) then singled home Kocen and McDevitt to make it 5-1 Flyers.
The Saints added a two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth to get back within two runs at 5-3. Lewis added three more runs in the sixth.
Thomas Fox (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Christian) led off with a single, McDevitt also singled and
Angelo Cantelo (Blue Island, Ill./Marian Catholic) brought Fox home with another single. The base hits continued with
Cain Headrick (Custer Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) and Alt bringing home McDevitt and Cantelo, respectively.
Maryville scored six runs in the bottom half to take a 9-8 lead. The Saints added two more in the seventh to make it 11-8.
The Flyers got one run back in the eighth as Krol doubled and Alt drove him in with a single later in the frame. Kocen doubled and reached third base in the ninth, but Maryville was able to keep Lewis from scoring for thr 11-9 victory.
Daniel Rosado (Burbank, Ill.) (2-3) took the loss on the mound, facing three batters and allowing one hit and two walks for two runs scored in the sixth.
