KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- The Lewis University women's basketball team lost their second game of the season on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 18) after having seven turnovers in the fourth. The Bulldogs were victorious 69-60.

GAME SUMMARY
Coming off a Thursday night win in Liberty, the Flyers started off their Saturday afternoon game with a jumper from Cesarini to give them the first lead of the day, Cesarini would follow up with a layup the next trip down the floor. The Flyers would score eight quick points off of a layup, a three by Gugliuzza and another three by Hoover which gave Lewis a 12-8 lead.
Badali drove the line for a layup, an opportunity created by a Gugliuzza steal. The Flyers went without any points for a few minutes until Nunnally put up a layup with just under two minutes remaining in the quarter. The Flyers would head into the second quarter with a 16-14 lead after a Truman State layup in the closing seconds.
The Flyers started off slow in the second quarter with the Bulldogs taking the lead from a three pointer making it 19-16. Badali went two for two from the line to start thing off for the Flyers in the second. The Bulldogs kept up their lead for a few minutes until
Jasmine Jones (Bolingbrook, IL/Bolingbrook) and and Hoover hit two layup to give Lewis the 22-21 lead.
The small lead would go back and forth between the two teams.
Sammi Campanelli (Huntley, Ill./Huntley) recorded two layups to retake the lead twice for the Flyers.
With the game tied at 27 in the closing seconds of the half, Gugliuzza went to the line and flushed two free throws. The last-second shot attempt by the Bulldogs was no good, and the Flyers went into halftime with a 29-27 lead.
The two squads started off slow in the second half but Gugliuzza broke the dry spell with a layup. Badali would grab a defensive rebound then move her way to the opposite side of the floor for a layup. Gugliuzza went in for a layup and was fouled in the act of shooting. The shot was made, and she walked away with a free throw.
Another long run of scoreless basketball was broken up by a three by the Bulldogs. Cesarini hit a jumper from the mid-range to make it a 42-39 score at the end of the third quarter.
The Bulldogs got off to a hot start in the fourth quarter hitting eight straight shots from a combination of threes, layups and free throws. Cesarini scored the first bucket of the fourth for the Flyers.
Badali would have three threes in the quarter but Lewis overall lost the turnover battle in the fourth 7-3. Lewis lost the contest 69-60.
