Romeoville, Ill. – Assistant vice president for athletics
John Ashaolu announced today that Brian Darden will join Lewis Athletics as the newest assistant athletic director for compliance.
"We are thrilled to welcome Brian Darden to Flyer Nation" said Ashaolu. "Brian comes highly recommended and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to our institution at a pivotal time for intercollegiate athletics. His collaborative and innovative mindset will be a tremendous asset to our student-athletes, coaches, and staff as we continue to move our department forward."
Prior to joining the Flyers, Darden worked as the associate director of athletic compliance at Sunshine State Conference member Florida Institute of Technology since May 2023. In his role, Darden maintained a database of all student-athletes and rosters for the Panthers 14 athletic programs. He also assisted with initial eligibility reviews, transcript evaluations and playing/practice season declarations.
Darden also assisted with waivers and monitored and analyzed all recruiting activities to comply with the NCAA while at FIT. He also served as the primary advisor for the Panthers SAAC committee as well.
Darden also worked as a graduate assistant for compliance with Florida State from August 2022 through May 2023. With the Seminoles, he documented over 100 FSU Athletics personnel and assisted with all unofficial and official visit policies and procedures. While also making sure athletes were eligible and followed NCAA standards, Darden also aided in the approval of over 50 athletic-wide charitable donation requests and all complimentary tickets for Seminole events ranging from football to softball.
Darden began his career in college athletics as a communications assistant for UTampa and later as an event management intern with the University of South Florida. Before entering the athletics world, Darden served our country as a member of the United States Air Force where he was a supply management tech.
Darden possessed a bachelor's degree in sports management ('22) from UTampa and a master's of science in sports management ('23) from Florida State.
