Box Score Romeoville, Ill. – Friday evening, the Lewis Flyers fell 2-1 to Illinois Springfield in GLVC action.
With the result, Lewis moves to 6-5-5 (5-5-3 GLVC), while Illinois Springfield improves to 5-8-3 (4-7-2 GLVC).
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Prairie Stars opened the scoring in the 17th minute when Addison Wittenberg found the back of the net to give UIS an early 1-0 advantage.
Lewis battled back and found the tying goal in the 72nd minute as Talia Kaempf (Wheaton, Ill./Wheaton North) scored her first goal of the season, finishing a chance in front to level the match at 1-1.
Illinois Springfield regained the lead in the 81st minute when Mallory Herber made the score 2-1.
Lewis out shot UIS 17-4 overall and 6-3 in shots on goal, while also holding a 6-2 edge in corners. In goal, Jillian Barth (Pleasanton, Calif./Foothill) recorded one save for the Flyers.
Both teams were issued yellow cards late in the match, Morgan Krupp (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay High School) for Lewis and Addison Wittenberg for UIS.
