Romeoville, Ill. - Another conference draw for the Flyers on Sunday (Oct. 5) after a long battle with the Southwest Baptist Bearcats.
Lewis become 3-2-5 overall with a conference record of 2-2-2, while the Bearcats are now 4-6-1 with a 1-5-1 conference record.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bearcats started quickly on Sunday with a goal in the first 13 minutes after Iker Lorenzo was there for a rebound to put Southwest Baptist on the board early. The Flyers responded fast on the other end, using a bad clear off a Lewis corner to set up a pass from
Roman Hernandez (Aurora, Ill./Aurora East) over to
Mikey Revell (Largo, Maryland/Bishop McNamara) who placed one perfectly in the back of the net for a 1-1 tie.Â
Myles Paniagua put another goal on the board for the Bearcats at the 28:58 mark making it a 2-1 game heading into halftime.Â
The second half was a long battle with both squads fighting for possession and chances at the net. With a little more than ten minutes remaining in the match the Flyers got a corner kick on the right side of their offensive side. Taken by
Noah Kawaguchi (Arlington Heights, Ill./John Hersey), the ball flew through the air and off the head of
Mario Ramirez (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle Institute) into the upper 90 for another Flyers goal. The contest concluded with a final score of 2-2.Â
Another full 90 minutes for
Yoan Zagorov (Sofia, Bulgaria) allowing two goals with four saves. Bearcats keeper Jan-Henry Schafer played a full 90 allowing two goals as well but pulled in six saves for his team.Â

- Hernandez is now top ten in assists for the conference with his third one of the season today.Â
- After today's contests, Lewis is leading the conference in corner kicks with 60.
