Flyers Score 30 First Quarter Points En Route to 94-32 win over Concordia Chicago

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University women's basketball team defeated Concordia Chicago 94-32 Monday (Dec. 15) in a non-conference contest at Neil Carey Arena.

IMPACT PLAYERS
Mercy Lasu (Winnipeg, Canada/D'Youville) led four Flyers in double figures with 16 points on 8-of-9 shooting to go along with eight rebounds and five assists. Ally Cesarini (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) added 14 points, including four three pointers and seven rebounds, while Mallory Ramage (Mattoon, IL/Loyola-Chicago) and Jasmine Jones (Bolingbrook, IL/Bolingbrook) scored 13 points each.

Naveya Jackson scored nine points to lead the Cougars.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis (3-7) scored the first 18 points of the game behind six from Ramage and five from Jones before a three-pointer got the Cougars on the board with 3:31 left in the first quarter. The Flyers responded with the final 12 points of the quarter to make it 30-3 after one.

Jones led the scoring output for the Flyers in the second quarter, scoring six points. Lewis outscored Concordia (3-6) 21-11 in the period to take a 51-14 lead into the locker room.

The Flyers tallied the first 20 points of the second half to build a 71-14 advantage. Lasu scored eight points in the run. Lewis finished the third quarter leading 78-18.

Lewis outscored Concordia 16-14 in the final quarter for the 62-point margin of victory. The Flyers shot 41-of-72 (56.9%) from the floor for the game and outrebounded the Cougars 52-19.

  • Lasu's eight rebounds and five assists were both season bests.
  • Cesarini had a career-best four three-pointers.
  • The 94 points were the most for the Flyers since February 15, 2024 in a 97-88 win over Springfield.
  • The 32 points were the fewest points allowed since a 64-32 win over Southern Indiana March 4, 2005.
  • The 64 points was the largest margin of victory from the Flyers since a 95-14 win over Harris-Stowe in 1981.
