Romeoville, Ill. - Missouri-St. Louis led wire-to-wire as they defeated the Lewis University men's basketball team, 78-59, Thursday evening at Neil Carey Arena.
IMPACT PLAYERS
Miles Boland led the Tritons (5-3, 2-0 GLVC) with 18 points, seven rebounds and five steals. Of his 18 points, nine came from beyond the arc where he went 3-for-3. Demetris Phillips snagged six boards and 11 points of his own to help pace the Tritons in the win. UMSL ended the game shooting 28-of-62 (.452) compared to .429 (21-of-49) for Lewis.
Arius Alijosius (Riverside, Ill./Riverside-Brookfield) and
Arden Eaves (Tinley Park, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor High School) led Lewis (0-6, 0-2 GLVC) with nine points each while
Reid Loewen (Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada/CTA West) collected a team-best six boards.
Cale Cosme (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) dished out a career-high five assists in the losing effort for Lewis.
HOW IT HAPPENED
UMSL came out of the gate hot as they scored 14 of the first 16 points in the opening five minutes of the contest. They never relinquished their lead and entered the half with a 40-23 edge.
Out of the break, both teams traded buckets to begin the second stanza, but a 22-7 run midway through the half gave the visitors their largest lead of the game, 73-44. Still, the Flyers ended the game on a high scoring, scoring nine of the final 12 points.

- Cosme played a career-high 25 minutes in the loss
- Timofei Komissarov (St. Petersburg, Russia/GUTID) poured in a career-high seven points on3-of-4 shooting
- Vinko Polovic (Milwaukee, Wisc./Bosco Institute) made his first appearance for Lewis since Nov. 15 at Tiffin
