SOUTHFIELD, Mich. - The Lewis University women's lacrosse team scored seven fourth quarter goals, but it wasn't enough in an 18-17 loss to Lawrence Tech Saturday (March 29).

SUMMARY
FIRST QUARTER: Lewis 4, Lawrence Tech 3
Lewis opened the scoring 50 seconds into the contest as Sweeney scored on an assist from Roney. The Blue Devils came back with the next three goals to take a 3-1 advantage.
The Flyers answered back with the final three goals of the period. Sweeney scored the first, while Cappellini tied the game at 3-3 and Winterlik gave Lewis the lead on a goal with four seconds left in the quarter.
SECOND QUARTER: Lawrence Tech 8. Lewis 3
Lawrence Tech scored a pair of goals in the first 1:27 of the second quarter to pull back ahead 5-4. The Flyers came right back with a pair of goals in less than a minute as Sweeney and
Jade McKinnon (Coquitlam, British Columbia, Canada/Dr. Charles Best Secondary School) scored the take the lead back at 6-5.
The Blue Devils again scored twice to retake the lead and Roney came back to make it a 7-7 score with 8:32 left in the half. However, Lawrence Tech came back with four goals in less than a three minute stretch to take an 11-7 lead with 5:07 remaining in the half. That would be the score at the half.
THIRD QUARTER: Lawrence Tech 4, Lewis 3
The Flyers quickly got back into the game, scoring three times in the first three minutes of the quarter to make it 11-10 on goals from McKinnon, Sweeney and Cappellini.
Lawrence Tech responded with the final four goals of the quarter to take a 15-10 advantage into the fourth quarter.
FOURTH QUARTER: Lewis 7, Lawrence Tech 3
Lewis cut into the lead with another strong start to a quarter as goals from Cappellini and Winterlik made it 15-12 with 12:55 left. It took the Blue Devils just 24 seconds to get one of those goals back.
A Cappellini goal cut the deficit back to three. After a Blue Devil goal, Lewis answered with goals from Winterlik and Sweeney to make it 17-15 with 6:26 remaining. Roney then scored with 2:52 left to make it 17-16. Lawrence Tech came back with a goal to make it 18-16. Sweeney scored to make it 18-17 with 43 seconds left, but the Flyers were unable to get the tying goal.
