Flyers Defeat William Jewell 6-2

Liberty, Mo. – Sunday afternoon at Greene Stadium, the Flyers earned a decisive 6-2 road victory over William Jewell in GLVC action.
 

With the result, Lewis improves to 3-1-3 (2-1-1 GLVC) on the season, while William Jewell falls to 0-5-3 (0-3-2 GLVC).

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Flyers wasted no time striking first as Isabella Vargas (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) scored in the 6th minute off an assist from Jada Harvey (Roscoe, Ill./Rockford Christian) to make it 1-0.

Breanna Culver (Roscoe, Ill./Wisconsin-Milwaukee) doubled the lead in the 19th minute, and Harvey added her first of the day in the 44th minute to send Lewis into halftime up 3-0.

In the second half, Harvey struck again to push the lead to 4-0. The Cardinals responded in the 71st minute to cut the deficit to 4-1, but Lewis quickly answered as Morgan Krupp (New Baltimore, Mich./Anchor Bay High School) buried a penalty kick to restore the four-goal cushion.

William Jewell added its second goal in the 74th minute, but Lewis closed out the match strongly as Caroline Hadler (Elk Grove Ill./Elk Grove HS) scored to secure the 6-2 victory with her first of the contest.

ed 7-3 in corner kicks. Sophomore goalkeeper Josie Graziosi (Galena, OH/Big Walnut) made one save for the Flyes in the winning effort.

MATCH NOTES
- Lewis is now 10-6 against William Jewell
- The five different goalscorers are the most in a match for Lewis this year.
- Harvey joins Culver as the only two players this year to score twice in a match.
- The six goals are the most since Lewis downed William Jewell, 7-2, back on Oct. 7, 2022.
