ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Building on the momentum of a successful 2025 campaign and continued excellence in the classroom and competition, Lewis University Athletics officially launched its 2026 Athletics Annual Funds Campaign on Thursday, October 15.
The annual campaign gives alumni, families, friends, and supporters an opportunity to make a meaningful impact on more than 500 student-athletes representing the Flyers across 23 varsity sports. Every contribution, no matter the size, strengthens the student-athlete experience and provides additional resources for Lewis teams to compete, develop, and succeed. Last year, over 450 donors contributed to the annual campaign to help support the Flyers.
"Our student-athletes represent the very best of Lewis University. They work incredibly hard, compete with pride, and represent this institution with excellence every day," said Assistant Vice President for Athletics
John Ashaolu. "This campaign is an opportunity for our entire Flyer family, including alumni, parents, friends, and fans, to come together and invest in their success. We've accomplished incredible things through our supporters' generosity, but we can do so much more together. Every gift matters, and I'm encouraging everyone who believes in our student-athletes and the future of Lewis Athletics to join us and make a difference."
The impact of donor generosity can be seen throughout Lewis Athletics. In recent years, philanthropic support has helped fund significant facility improvements, including a new competition court in Neil Carey Arena, continued enhancements to the Lewis Athletics Hall of Fame, and approximately $250,000 in renovations to the women's basketball and women's volleyball locker rooms. These investments do more than improve facilities. They help create an environment where student-athletes take pride in representing Lewis University, prepare for competition, and develop a stronger sense of belonging within the Flyer community.
Lewis Athletics has established itself as one of the nation's premier NCAA Division II athletic programs, consistently ranking in the top 30 nationally in the Learfield Directors' Cup standings. That competitive excellence, coupled with a strong commitment to academic achievement and personal development, reflects the department's dedication to developing champions in competition, in the classroom, and in life.
The 2026 Athletics Annual Funds Campaign is an opportunity to build on that success and help take Lewis Athletics to even greater heights. Supporters can direct their gifts to the sport or program that means the most to them, providing critical resources that enhance the student-athlete experience.
