St. Louis, Mo. – The Lewis University Women's Basketball team fell to Missouri-St. Louis 66-59 in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. The Flyers move to 18-13 overall and 13-8 in the GLVC, while the Tritons improve to 13-15 overall and 8-12 in conference play.
IMPACT PLAYERS
Ally Cesarini (La Grange, Ill./Lyons Township) led the Flyers with a game-high 21 points while shooting 10-for-15 from the field and adding four rebounds.
Kree Nunnally (Crystal Lake, Ill./Example Academy) added 13 points and seven rebounds for Lewis.
Mara Rieder led Missouri-St. Louis with 22 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Lewis opened the game strong as they built momentum early with baskets from Ramage, Cesarini, and Nunnally to take control of the first quarter.
A three-point play from Cesarini late in the period helped Lewis extend its lead, and the Flyers carried a 19-10 advantage into the second quarter.
Missouri-St. Louis responded in the second quarter, slowly cutting into the deficit behind scoring from Rieder and Kuper. The Tritons used a three-pointer from Kuper and several inside baskets to tie the game late in the period.
Cesarini answered with a layup for Lewis, but Missouri-St. Louis responded in the final seconds to even the score at 32-32 heading into halftime.
The Tritons gained momentum in the third quarter. Missouri-St. Louis used a pair of three-pointers and strong inside play from Rieder to take the lead midway through the period.
Lewis stayed within reach behind scoring from Cesarini and Ramage, but a late three-pointer by the Tritons helped push their lead to 53-46 entering the fourth quarter.
In the final quarter, Lewis worked to close the gap. Nunnally scored inside and
Yahaira Bueno (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) knocked down a three-pointer with just over a minute remaining to bring the Flyers within four.
However, Missouri-St. Louis converted multiple free throws in the closing seconds to secure the 66-59 victory.
GAME NOTES
- Lewis shot 48.2 percent from the field and out-rebounded Missouri-St. Louis 31-24.
- The loss marks the third straight meeting won by the Tritons.
- Cesarini ends the 2025-26 campaign with 100 steals, becoming the first player in program history to end the year with triple digits in steals
