ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis men's soccer ended the matchup against Rockhurst in a 0- 0 draw on Saturday (Sep. 12). With the tie, Lewis moves to 2-2-1 (1-1-1 GLVC), while Rockhurst moves to 2-3-1 (1-1-1 GLVC).
IMPACT PLAYERS
Connor Pate (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) led the Flyers with two shots during the game. In net,
Matija Blazic (Obrenovac Beograd, Serbia/Gimnazija u Obrenovcu) had five saves for the shutout.
For the Hawks, Blake Barrick led with five shots. Goalkeeper Luke Strueby had one save in net.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Both teams battled in the first half trying to find the back of the net. The first shot of the game came from Rockhurst, which was deflected by Blazic within the first 10 minutes of the game. The Hawks followed with four more shots, none of which found the net. The Flyers held their ground, and both teams ended the first 45 scoreless.
Heading into the second half, both teams brought the pressure. After numerous attempts, neither team could score. The Flyers had a key opportunity off a free kick within the last 10 minutes of the game, but it was deflected by Rockhurst. Both teams ultimately did not score, and the game ended in a draw at 0-0.
