ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis men's soccer team dropped a 2-0 decision against No. 11 Drury on Saturday (Sept. 26). With the loss, Lewis moves to 2-6-1 (1-5-1 GLVC) and Drury moves to 7-1-1 (5-0-1 GLVC).
IMPACT PLAYERS
Alejo Trejos (Montes de Oca, San Jose, Costa Rica/Lancaster Catholic) led the Flyers with three shots. In net,
Matija Blazic (Obrenovac Beograd, Serbia/Gimnazija u Obrenovcu) had one save.
For the Panthers, Steen Voller and David Huang each scored one goal. Goalkeeper Ben Barnett had three saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers struck instantly, scoring their first goal within the first minute, with Voller putting it in with an assist from Lui Bull. Only ten minutes later, Drury scored their second and final goal from Huang, assisted by Eyal Kibrik.
Jan Foret (Velke Opatovice, Czechia/Skola Hlavniho Mesta Prahy) came in for Blazic, who left due to injury, and played the final 73 minutes of the contest without allowing a goal. The Flyers tallied eight more shots in the second half but could not find the back of the net. The Panthers won 2-0 in a shutout.
GAME NOTES
- Drury obtained three yellow cards while Lewis had one.
- Drury had ten more fouls compared to Lewis.
- Lewis had 10 shots compared to Drury, which had six.
- Lewis' record against Drury now sits at 11-11-3.
- Mario Ramirez (Chicago, Ill./De La Salle Institute) played his first full game of the season.
