2011 Highlights: Recipient of Lewis' Delahanty Award for academic excellence among student athletes and named Academic All-GLVC...started all 42 games (26 at first base, nine at pitcher and seven at right field)...on the mound, earned the victory over UIS with an 8.0 innings, four hit, two run (one earned), five strikeout performance (March 19)...allowed just one unearned run in 7.0 innings at Bellarmine to get a victory (May 1)...earned a victory after a 5.0 inning, two run start vs. Mary (Feb. 28)...took a no-decision after 6.0 scoreless innings vs. Gannon (March 5)...at the plate, recorded five hits, four runs scored and three RBI on a double and a home run with three singles at Christian Brothers (March 13)...had three hits and an RBI at Bellarmine (May 1)...hit a home run vs. Northern Kentucky (May 8)...singled, scored once and knocked two runs in vs. Maryville (March 28) and vs. UW-Parkside (April 6)...scored three times, had two hits and one RBI vs. Southern Indiana (April 17)...recorded two RBI, two hits and a run scored at UW-Parkside (May 10).

2010 Highlights: Deans' List student fall semester and a recipient of Lewis' Delahanty Award for academic excellence among student athletes...named All-GLVC Third Team as a utility player...started 56 games (28 at first base, 13 at right field, four at designated hitter, 5 at pitcher, 4 at pitcher/designated hitter and 3 at left field...led team in stolen bases (11)...second on the team in RBI (30)...third on the team in on base percentage (.400), doubles (10) and walks (22)...hit a three-run home run to highlight a four-RBI day at Bellarmine (April 25)...hit a solo home run at UW-Parkside (March 27)...had three hits, three RBI and two runs scored including a solo home run in game two vs. Quincy (March 19)...had two RBI, two hits and a run scored in game one vs. Quincy (March 19)...drove in three runs and scored twice vs. West Virginia Wesleyan (March 5)...had four hits, including two doubles, to drive in three runs and score twice vs. Northern Kentucky (April 3)...recorded two RBI, a double, single and a run scored vs. Gannon (Feb. 28)...drove in two runs with a single vs. St. Joseph's (May 1)...doubled, singled and knocked in a run at Henderson State (Feb. 13)...allowed just two unearned runs and three hits while striking out six in a 7.0 inning victory vs. Northwood (March 4)...in 5.0 innings allowed four hits and one unearned run to get a victory at Kentucky Wesleyan (April 11)...took home a no decision in 5.0 innings of four-hit, no run ball at St. Francis (April 27)...allowed just two runs and five hits in a 6.0 inning no-decision vs. Indianapolis (April 18).

2009 Highlights (at South Suburban College): Hit .309 with 43 hits and 34 RBI...also threw eight innings on the mound, striking out seven.

2008 Highlights (at Michigan State): Collected five hits, including two doubles, in 29 at bats...made 20 appearances on the mound, including three starts, compiling a 1-2 mark and an 8.13 era.

Prep/Personal: Named conference player of the year after batting .416 with five home runs and going 8-2 on the mound as a senior...played for Team Illinois in 2007...selected to all-conference and all-state teams...led team to 61-12 record over junior and senior seasons...named Southtown Star Player of the year in 2007...drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 49th round in 2007...son of Tim and Deb Newsome...communication studies major.
