2012 Highlights: Competed in four events during the 2012 season. Beat a career time high in the 6k at the 2012 Illini Challenge on August 31 with a time of 19:19.
2011 Highlights: Used season as redshirt campaign...recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award - given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence and named to Academic All-GLVC Team...selected to Capital One Academic All-America NCAA Division II Men's Cross Country / Track and Field Third Team.
2010 Highlights: Br. David Delahanty Award winner, given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence and also named to Academic All-GLVC team...competed in all six cross country meets...had a pair of second-place finishes at both the 8K National Catholic Invitational (Sept. 17) and the 8K Illini Open (Oct. 22) with times of 25:48 and 25:16, respectively... finished 14th at the Badger Classic (Sept. 3) in 26:28.1...also took 14th place at the Greater Louisville Classic (Oct. 2), crossing the finish line in 25:26.20...finished 18th at the 8K GLVC Championships (Nov. 6) with a time of 25:54...took 33rd place at the 10K NCAA Midwest Regional (Nov. 20), finishing in 32:26.32.
2009 Highlights: Competed in seven cross country meets and turned in Lewis’ top finish in three of those events...turned in career-best 8K time of 26:21 at the Roy Griak Invitational (Sept. 27)...earned a pair of top-20 finishes at the 6K Elmhurst Earlybird Invite (16th, 20:01) on September 4th and 8K Bradley Open (26:21) on September 11th...recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award, given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence and Academic All-GLVC honoree.
2008 Highlights: Delahanty Award recipient given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence and Academic All-GLVC selection...placed 15th overall with a time of 20:32 at the Elmhurst Earlybird Cross Country Invitational (Aug. 29)...earned a season-best 8K time of 27:33.14 at the Ferris State Bulldog Invitational (Sept. 20).
Prep/Personal: Four-year letterwinner in cross country and two-year letterwinner in track and field for Yorkville...also competed in basketball...two-time team cross country MVP...finished 22nd at the cross country state championships as a senior, helping the Foxes to an 8th place finish in the tournament as a team...member of Western Sun All-Conference indoor and outdoor 4x800 relay teams as a senior...ran a leg of the state qualifying 4x800 relay team as a junior...named the team’s middle distance MVP as a junior...was an IHSA All-State Academic Team nominee...Illinois State Scholar...qualified for the High Honor Roll all eight semesters...son of Don and Theresa Tanis...major is sports management.
