2011 Highlights: Recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award, given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence, and named to Academic All-GLVC Team...was first overall in the 3,000-meter run (8:44.38) at the UW-Parkside Classic Open (Feb. 4)...won the 3,000-meter run title at the IWU Titan Open (Jan. 29), crossing the finish line in 8:43.52...did not compete during outdoor season.
Prep/Personal: Four-year letterwinner in both cross country and track and field at Walther Lutheran...four-time state qualifier in cross country and track and field...four-time All-Conference selection in both track and cross country...finished sixth overall in the 1A State Cross Country Finals as a senior, crossing the finish line in 15:24...placed second overall in the 1A State Finals in the 3,200-meter run (9:32.99) and third in the 1,600-meter run (4:27.39) as a senior...helped Walther Lutheran to three sectional championships during his career...named class salutatorian...Illinois State Scholar...member of the National Honor Society...academic bowl sectional qualifier...son of Peter and Kris Mazza...major is physics.
