Adam DeMong enters his fourth season as a coach for the Lewis University men’s basketball team and his first as the Associate Head Coach. He is responsible for recruiting, scouting, game preparation and player development.
Prior to his arrival at Lewis, the Glen Ellyn, Ill., native, spent two seasons on former Lewis head coach Jim Whitesell’s staff at Division I Loyola. As an assistant coach in 2010-11, DeMong’s duties included working with both the perimeter and post players in skill development, recruiting and formulating scouting reports and game plans for upcoming opponents. DeMong was also the Director of the 2010 Jim Whitesell Basketball Camp.
In 2009-10, DeMong served as the Director of Basketball Operations for the Ramblers where he spearheaded Loyola’s film exchange, team travel, academics, on-campus recruiting and managerial staff efforts, He also played a vital role in the team’s marketing and community relations undertakings.
Loyola was not DeMong’s first Division I stop as an assistant coach, as he spent two seasons on Tim O’Shea’s staff at Ohio University from 2004-06. In addition to on-court coaching and scouting duties at Ohio, DeMong was responsible for film exchange, team travel, on-campus recruiting, while also supervising the managerial staff.
In between his collegiate coaching stops, DeMong served as an assistant coach at both his alma mater, Glenbard West (2007-08) and St. Patrick (2008-09). He also worked at Joy of the Game in Deerfield, Ill. In 2010, DeMong served as the Commissioner of the Reebok Breakout Challenge in Philadelphia, Penn.
A three-year letterwinner at Boston College, DeMong was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams, along with an appearance in the National Invitation Tournament. As a sophomore, he was on an Eagle squad that went 27-5 on their way to both the Big East East Division and Tournament titles.
DeMong and his wife, Abby, reside in Chicago.
