Troy Johnson, an eight-year coaching veteran of Illinois Amateur Athletic Union basketball, is in his first season as assistant coach at Lewis University.
Johnson has served as head coach of the Illinois Wolves and Illinois Warriors AAU teams. Current NBA players Dwyane Wade, Darius Miles, Quentin Richardson and Andre Iguodala, as well as several prominent collegiate players, played AAU basketball in those programs.
Johnson began his coaching career as a graduate assistant football coach at Aurora University, his alma mater. Later he served on the Downers Grove South High School and Addison Trail High School basketball coaching staffs.
Johnson is a 1993 graduate of Aurora, where he earned bachelor's degrees in education and communications. He is a native of Joliet who competed in basketball, football and track and field at Joliet West High School.
A resident of Romeoville, Johnson teaches at-risk students at Jefferson Junior High School in Woodridge.
