2014 Highlights: Recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award - given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence - and named to Academic All-GLVC Team...named to the Capital One Academic All-District 4 Men’s Track & Field/Cross Country Team…set a NCAA Provisional mark in the distance medley relay (10:07.65) at the UIndy Relay Open (Feb. 7)…captured a Provisional mark in the 3000 meter run (8:29.32) at the Chicagoland Championships (Feb. 15)…earned a first place finish in the 3000 meter run (8:33.91) at the Wildcat Indoor Invitational (Jan. 25).

2013 Highlights: Named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic Men’s Track and Field Team…recipient of the Br. David Delahanty Award - given to Lewis student-athletes for academic excellence - and named to Academic All-GLVC Team…set a NCAA Provisional mark in the 5000 meter run (14:43.77) at the Tom Hathaway Track and Field Challenge (Feb. 2)…earned a NCAA Provisional mark in the 1 mile (4:16.87) at the Cardinal Classic (Feb. 15)…victorious in the 1 mile (4:22.21) at the Lewis Invitational (Jan. 18).

Prior To Lewis: Spent three seasons at the University of St. Francis (Ill.)...won the CCAC Cross Country Championship in 2010...won the 5,000-meter run at the CCAC Track and Field Championships in 2012...named a 2012 NAIA All-American in both the outdoor 5,000-meter run and as a member of the indoor 4x800 relay...helped the Saints to the 2010 CCAC Cross Country Team Championship and a 14th-place showing at the NAIA National Championships in 2010...was a member of St. Francis track and field team that earned three second-place finishes at the CCAC Championships.

Prep/Personal: Three-year varsity cross country and track and field letterwinner for Winnebago...won the IHSA Class A Cross Country State Championship and 3,200-meter run, while claiming All-State accolades in the 1,600-meter run as a senior...placed eighth overall in the IHSA Class A Cross Country State Championship as a junior...helped Winnebago to four top-four team finishes at the IHSA Class A Cross Country Championships, including state titles as a freshman and junior...major is mathematics and education...son of John and Sharon Smith.
