Karen Senette joined the Lewis University women’s basketball coaching staff as an assistant coach in August 2015.
Senette is responsible for guard development, scheduling and team travel. She also assists in scouting and recruiting.
Senette joined the Flyers after spending the 2014-15 campaign as an assistant coach with Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois. She assisted with recruitment, scouting reports and practice planning. Senette helped the Eagles advance to the conference championship game for the first time in five seasons.
An Alaska native, Senette graduated from Elmhurst College in 2014. As a member of the women’s basketball team, Senette was a two-year captain and two-time All-CCIW Third Team selection. She was the Elmhurst College Blue Jay Award winner in 2012, and after averaging 10.2 points and a team-high 3.7 assists per game in 2014, she was named Team MVP. Prior to her time at Elmhurst, Senette attended Judson University. There, she was a team captain and conference Player of the Week in 2011.
Throughout her college career, Senette balanced her class load and time on the court with various coaching duties. For the past year, Senette has served as an assistant for many levels of the Illinois Lady Lightning AAU Program in Wheaton, Illinois, where she installed different offensive and defensive concepts, planned practices, and oversaw game and practice scheduling.
In the past, Senette also coached at different camps, such as Doug Bruno Basketball Camps in Naperville, Northwest Basketball Camps in Palmer, Alaska, and the Judson University Summer Basketball Camp. While in Alaska, Senette coached for Soldotna Middle School.
Senette graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in psychology and is pursuing a master’s degree in organizational leadership at Lewis University.
