Lewis University Athletics

Dana Schwarting is starting his 25th season at Lewis University, 22nd as the Head Men’s and Women’s Head Coach.  Prior to Lewis University, he spent 5 seasons at Morningside University, another DII school at the time, and one season as a Graduate Assistant Coach at the University of South Dakota.  In his time at Lewis, Schwarting has coached all field events including the throws, sprints, and hurdles. 

Currently, Schwarting coaches the horizontal jumps plus high jump.  Schwarting has built the men’s and women’s program into GLVC powerhouse, and an NCAA D2 top 25 team year in and year out.

Since joining the Flyers, Schwarting has coached 165-plus NCAA Indoor and Outdoor All-American and 320-plus GLVC Indoor and Outdoor All-Conference winners.

Schwarting ran his college track and field at the University of South Dakota where he competed in the Pentathlon, Decathlon, and was a NCAA Nationals Qualifer in the 110H.  He graduated from USD with a Bachelors of Education in 1996 and a Masters of Arts in 1998.  He currently resides in Joliet with his wife Lisa, and three boys, Logan, Parker, and Keegan
