Abby Nelson joined the Flyers coaching staff in 2013 after serving two years as the Marist High School freshmen girls’ volleyball coach, as well as, coaching Ultimate Volleyball Club in Franfort, Ill. She also has previous coaching experience with the 16 Red Lions Jr. Volleyball Club. 
 
An August 2011 graduate of University of Illinois with a degree in Kinesiology, Nelson brings three years of NCAA Division I playing experience as a middle blocker for the Fighting Illini. In the 2008 season, Nelson collected 199 kills, 119 total blocks and 29 aces as she helped the squad finish 26-8 overall and third in the Big Ten with a 15-5 conference record. 

Among her daily duties in the women's volleyball office and working with the middle hitters at practices, Nelson is pursing a masters in counseling at Lewis.
