Box Score

WILDER, Ky. - Playing its trademark stonewall defense, Lewis allowed just two shots on goal and three corner kicks in Saturday's Great Lakes Valley Conference game against Northern Kentucky.

Unfortunately for the Flyers, both NKU shots found the net as the Norse posted a 2-0 win in Lewis' final GLVC regular-season game of the year.

After Kyle Roberts (Dan Impellizzeri assist) scored at 18:06, Lewis (13-2-2, 6-2-2 GLVC) put up a brick wall against the NKU offense for virtually the rest of the game.

The second goal for the Norse (12-3-2, 6-2-1 GLVC), also scored by Roberts (Tony Capurro assist), came at 88:14 following Lewis' aggressive push for a game-tying score that produced six corner kicks in the second half.

Lewis, ranked No. 9 nationally in NCAA Division II and tied for No. 2 in the Great Lakes Region, will begin defense of its 2003 conference title by hosting a GLVC Championship first-round game Oct. 31. The opponent and starting time are to be determined.

First, the Flyers close the regular season Tuesday with a non-conference game at Missouri-Rolla.
