OWENSBORO, Ky.--Senior middle hitter Rory Harrison led a group of six players with at least six kills in the Lewis University women's volleyball team's sweep of Kentucky Wesleyan.
Harrison tallied a team-high 10 kills as Lewis kept KWC winless in the Great Lakes Valley Conference with a 30-7, 30-8, 30-23 defeat of the host Panthers. Lewis improves to 15-9 overall and 7-6 in the GLVC, while Kentucky Wesleyan falls to 1-23 overall and 0-13 in league play. The win moves Lewis into sole possession of fifth place in the GLVC and hands KWC its 42nd consecutive GLVC loss.
Megan Poludniak, Theresa Nugent and Rochelle Ruen had seven kills each, and Sarah McKinney and Val Olis added six kills apiece in the romp. Nugent registered a team-high 13 digs, while libero Maggie Haen had 11 digs and a team-best five service aces.
Lewis pounded the Panthers with a .418 hitting percentage and held KWC to a .008 clip. The Flyers also produced seven blocks, 65 digs and 12 service aces.
Three matches remain on Lewis' regular-season schedule and each match will be played at home in Neil Carey Arena. The Flyers host Quincy and Missouri-St. Louis on Oct. 29 and Oct. 30, respectively, and then finish the regular season against Saint Joseph's Nov. 6.
