Pressure Forces 27 Turnovers in 94-59 Win over Judson

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis men's basketball team got well by serving Judson College a heavy dose of defensive pressure and interior scoring.

The Flyers (2-1) forced 27 Hawk turnovers and scored 50 of its 94 points in the paint as the team downed Judson (2-6) 94-59 at Neil Carey Arena.

After its first two games, Lewis had been seeking an intensity on both ends of the floor. That search took no longer than the first 20 minutes of Tuesday night's game. The Flyers dominated Judson outscoring them 40-19 at the break and forcing 16 turnovers.

Sidney Holmes (Chicago, Ill./Brother Rice) set the tone in the first half with 10 points and six rebounds. He went on to score 14 points with eight rebounds.

Monta McGhee (Chicago, Ill./Robeson) supplanted Holmes in the second half, scoring 15 points in the stanza to finish with 23 points. He was 8-of-17 from the field and added six rebounds, three assists and four steals.

Austin Real (Aurora, Ill./Aurora West) amassed 11 points and six rebounds, while Demitrius Hunter (Silvis, Ill./United Township) notched 10 points. Nick Murphy (Evanston, Ill./St. Joseph) contributed seven points late in the game. He was 3-of-3 from the field and made his lone free throw.

Lewis will take a break from its non-conference action for its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener this weekend. The Flyers will travel to Wisconsin-Parkside for a 3 p.m. matchup with the Rangers.
