NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Justin Sanabria (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) scored an unassisted goal at 68:21 to give the Lewis University men's soccer team, ranked No. 10 in NCAA Division II, a 1-1 tie with No. 4 Southern Connecticut State Friday in the season opener for both teams.

The game was part of Southern Connecticut State's Reebok/Howard Johnson Hotel Autumn Classic. Bridgeport defeated Franklin Pierce 4-3 in double overtime in Friday's first game.

Levi Dobondi (Olivier Occean assist) gave Southern Connecticut State a 1-0 halftime lead with a goal at 43:00.

SCSU posted a 10-5 edge in shots on goal, but Flyer goalkeeper Jordan Gustman (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) met the challenge by making nine saves.

Lewis takes on Franklin Pierce Saturday.
