The Lewis University men's soccer team broke a 1-1 halftime tie with two second-half goals Sunday to register its fourth successive win, a 3-1 triumph over Saint Joseph's.
Lewis' Cathal Brady (Dublin, Ireland/St. Peters College Dunboyne) opened the scoring with his team-leading ninth goal of the season (unassisted) at 10:13. McKinley Jones (Justin Fox assists) scored the only goal for Saint Joseph's (3-9-3, 0-6-2 GLVC) at 40:27.
Justin Sanabria (Skokie, Ill./Niles North) scored his third goal of the season on a penalty kick at 67:33 to put the Flyers (6-4-2, 5-1 GLVC) ahead for good. Alejandro Blinder (Buenos Aires, Argentina/Instituto French)'s first goal of the year (unassisted) at 80:52 gave Lewis a two-goal cushion.
Lewis outshot Saint Joseph's 34-9, including 17-5 in shots on goal, and earned a 10-2 edge in corner kicks. The Flyers' Jordan Gustman (Roscoe, Ill./Hononegah) made four saves and SJC's Adam Burgdolf stopped 14 Lewis shots.
