Anzalone Leads Flyers With Eighth-Place Finish At Beloit

BELOIT, Wisc. - Larry Anzalone (Bensenville, Ill./Fenton) finished eighth among 144 runners to lead the Lewis University men's cross country team to third place at the 14-team Beloit College Old English Classic.

The Flyers scored 104 points to finish behind champion North Central (65) and runner-up Illinois Wesleyan (86), as Lewis coach Bob Schultz gave his top runners the day off.

Anzalone covered the 8,000-meter course in 27:21. Dustin Long (16th, 27:34), Brad Fox (21st, 27:58), Nick Wyatt (35th, 28:26) and Lamar Quinn (36th, 28:27) joined Anzalone in the Flyers' scoring group.

Also competing for Lewis were John Archer (45th, 28:48), Adrian Myers (49th, 28:56), Brad Rackow (53rd, 28:58), Cris Nica (71st, 29:41), Mike Eck (74th, 29:47) and Erik Donovan (100th, 31:47).

The Flyers compete at the Illinois/Missouri Border Wars in Edwardsville Oct. 11.
