Andy Tremble finished 18th among 136 runners Saturday to lead the Lewis University men's cross country team to seventh place at the 20-team NCAA Division II Great Lakes Regional Championship.
Tremble covered the 10,000-meter course in 32:31.5. Teammate Larry Cardenas also placed among the top 25, finishing 23rd in 32:38.4, and Braulio Benitez just missed with a 26th-place showing (32:41.5).
Also competing for the Flyers were Chris Foley (51st, 33:41.5), Dustin Long (53rd, 33:46.9), Josh Thompson (65th, 34:09.8) and Willie Nelson (93rd, 34:57.6).
Lewis, which placed third among Great Lakes Valley Conference teams at the regional after finishing fifth at the GLVC Championship two weeks ago, scored 171 points. Host Grand Valley State (46) won the meet, followed by Wayne State (50), Hillsdale (93), Southern Indiana (141), Southern Illinois Edwardsville (157), Ashland (158) and Lewis.
