The Lewis University men's volleyball team won its third straight match as the Flyers defeated conference foe Quincy in four games Saturday night. The victory keeps Lewis' all-time record against Quincy unblemished at a perfect 21-0.
Lewis (11-10, 7-3) was led by senior opposite Fabiano Barreto, who had a match-high 25 kills, hitting .452, with one service ace, seven digs, five block assists, and 28.5 total points. Also finishing in double-figure kills for the Flyers was junior outside hitter Jeff Soler, who managed 12 kills, three assists, two service aces, one dig, and two block assists for a total of 15.0 points.
The Flyers hit .327 in the match, with 57 kills, six service aces, 11.5 blocks, and 74.5 total points, while
Quincy hit .240 in the four-game match, with 60 kills, 10 service aces, 6.5 blocks, and 76.5 total points.
Greg Pochopien contributed a solid match as well with five kills, a match-high seven blocks and a .500 hitting percentage.
Lewis will host Clarke Tuesday night at 7 p.m. before traveling to Brigham Young this weekend. The Flyers will take on George Mason and top-ranked BYU Friday and Saturday, respectively.
