Flyers Lose to No. 1 UCLA in Three

LOS ANGELES - The top-ranked UCLA men's volleyball team defeated Lewis University Wednesday night in a non-conference match in Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins won 30-18, 30-27, 30-25 in 77 minutes before 452 fans. The victory raised UCLA's record to 14-3 overall. Lewis fell to 8-9 on the season.

Fabiano Barreto led the Flyers with 15 kills, but was held to a .179 attack percentage. Jeff Soler added eight kills and had a team-high six digs.

UCLA freshman Steve Klosterman pounded 19 kills (.364) and added three block assists to lead all players with 20.5 points. Paul Johnson contributed 10 kills (.556), four block assists and an ace for 13 points. Sophomore Beau Peters started in place of Dennis Gonzalez, who was given the night off, and he recorded 43 set assists, four total blocks, four digs and an ace. Senior Libero Adam Shrader led all players with seven digs.

The Bruins led in team statistics: 9.5-7.5 in blocking, 4-1 in aces and .357 to .138 in attack percentage.
