KISSIMMEE, Fla. - The Lewis softball team ran its winning streak to four straight with wins over Northwood and Rollins Tuesday afternoon. The Flyers (6-4) are 5-1 on their spring trip heading into an off day on Wednesday. The team beat Northwood 9-1 in five innings and needed eight innings to beat Rollins 1-0.

18 players saw time against Northwood as Lewis beat the Timberwolves by the eight-run rule. Amy Roberts tripled and scored a pair of runs, Christina Willis had two hits and an RBI, and Robin Martz had two hits and two runs scored to lead the Flyer offense.

In the pitcher's circle, Kristen Porzel picked up the win, going four innings and striking out six. A.J. Lagerhausen (Harvard, Ill./Harvard) pitched the fifth and retired the side in four batters to seal the game.

Pressed into extra innings against Rollins, Martz delivered the game-winning base hit in the bottom of the eighth inning. With the international tiebreaker in effect, Lewis at first failed to advance the runner from second, but Willis moved her over with a slap single. Martz followed a batter later with an infield single to second base.

Mary Jasczcak was in control of the game from the outset and pitched 7 1/3 flawless innings. Jaszczak held Rollins to three hits, while striking out five. Carrie Paradzinski (4-1) recorded the final two outs and earned the victory.
