ERIE, Pa. - The Lewis University men's volleyball team concluded the regular season Friday night with a 30-20, 30-27, 30-26 Midwest Intercollegiate Volleyball Association victory over Mercyhurst.

The outside duo of Jeff Soler (.500 hitting percentage) and Fabiano Barreto (.360) tallied 12 kills apiece to lead the Lewis offense, which posted a .347 hitting efficiency. James Elsea collected 10 kills and hit .471.

Those three Flyers also led a Lewis defense that outblocked Mercyhurst (12-12, 5-10 MIVA) by a 13-4 count and earned a 29-15 edge in digs. Soler had eight digs and five blocks, Barreto registered six digs and three blocks, and Elsea recorded nine blocks.

Brandon Sisk added 34 assists, four digs and three blocks, and Greg Pochopien had seven kills and four blocks for the Flyers (16-13, 11-5 MIVA), who finished fifth in the league standings. Lewis will be on the road next Friday for an MIVA Championship first-round match against an opponent to be determined.
