INDIANAPOLIS - Senior right-hander Matt Petrusek pitched a complete game and Darryl Jenkins drove in three runs Wednesday to lead the Lewis University baseball team to a 7-3 win over Indianapolis and a split of a Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader.

In game one, the Flyers outhit the Greyhounds 9-5 but were blanked 5-0 by Indianapolis hurler Gary Maurer.

Petrusek (4-5) allowed 10 hits but walked only two in nine innings. He struck out seven.

The Flyers (11-21, 5-12 GLVC) scored four runs in the sixth to break a scoreless tie.

Consecutive singles by Brian Davis, Ahren Baranski, Andy Sweet and Chris Carbonaro started the inning, with Sweet and Carbonaro collecting an RBI apiece. Jenkins delivered a one-out RBI single, and the fourth run scored on Mike Loprieno (Bloomingdale, Ill./Driscoll)'s fielder's choice.

Indianapolis (14-21, 9-13 GLVC) scored all three of its runs in the bottom of the sixth, but Petrusek worked out of a bases-loaded jam to avoid further damage.

Jenkins' two-run single in the seventh made it 6-3 Lewis, and the Flyers added another tally in the eighth when Brandon Niewinski doubled and scored on Davis' two-out double.

Davis and Niewinski led the Flyers' 11-hit attack with three hits apiece.

Jenkins and Baranski each had two hits in the seven-inning opener, but Maurer offset the Flyers' nine hits by walking just one batter.

The Greyhounds scored a run in the first and plated four runs in the third off Flyer starter Greg Moss (1-3), who fanned five in five innings.

Lewis hosts Missouri-St. Louis in a pair of GLVC doubleheaders Friday and Saturday. Game time both days is noon.
