ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--The Lewis University women's volleyball team dropped a tough four-set match to conference newcomer Drury University (Mo.) Friday night.

Drury (12-16, 8-7 Great Lakes Valley Conference) entered the match with an unsuspecting overall record, however the Panthers surprised Lewis (17-11, 9-6 GLVC) on Senior Night 30-23, 30-28, 27-30, 30-26.

Lewis sophomore Becca Lisle and junior Charisse Steckling carried the Flyer offense on a night when offensive leaders Theresa Nugent and Aubrey Dondlinger had an off match. Lisle posted a team-best 19 kills, hit .295 and had five blocks, while Steckling tallied a career-high 12 kills and five blocks; Steckling also hit .391.

Drury came out firing in the first two games, hitting a combined .305 (33k-8e-82att). Meanwhile, Lewis was stuck in neutral in the early going. The Flyers found the right gear in game 3 as they hit .289 and held Drury to a .160 mark.

The turning point in the match came with Lewis leading 25-23 in game 4. The Panthers subsequently went on a five-point run to claim a 28-25 lead and effectively kill Lewis' chances of extending the match to five games.

Defensively, libero Abby Hodge established a career high with 29 digs.

Drury was paced by freshman Megan Warhol, who carved out a match-high 26 kills and had 12 digs while hitting .351.

Despite the loss, Lewis remains in sixth place in the GLVC, one-game ahead of Drury. Lewis faces conference-leading Rockhurst (25-5, 14-1 GLVC) in its regular-season finale. The Flyers will need a win or a Drury loss to maintain sixth place; Drury travels to Wisconsin-Parkside (5-25, 3-12 GLVC) for its season-ending match.
