ROMEOVILLE - Brandon Niewinski collected three hits for Lewis University Wednesday in the Flyers' 3-1, 6-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference doubleheader loss to Wisconsin-Parkside.

Niewinski was 1-for-3 in the opener and 2-for-5 with a double and an RBI in game two. Victor Naut had a single and an RBI in each game for the Flyers (4-24, 2-14 GLVC).

Starter David Scheibe (0-2) pitched well for Lewis in the 7-inning opener, tossing 6 1/3 innings and allowing three runs, six hits and just one walk while striking out two. Joe Walsh induced a double play to end the seventh inning and keep the Flyers close.

Billy Duffy, Mike Smith and Mike Loprieno joined Niewinski and Naut in the hit column in game one.

Game two saw Wisconsin-Parkside (14-7, 10-2 GLVC) race to a 6-1 lead after four innings. Kevin Jakubauskas relieved starter Adam Stabosz (0-2) and quieted the Ranger bats, yielding just one run and four hits with no walks and two strikeouts in five innings.

Smith, Loprieno, Jim Gabriel and Sam Sacco each recorded a hit in the nightcap. Sacco scored both Lewis runs.

The Flyers travel to Northern Kentucky for a four-game GLVC series Saturday and Sunday.
