Dondlinger, Nugent Shine in Final Day at Findlay Tournament

ROMEOVILLE, Ill.--The Lewis University women's volleyball team fell to a pair of Great Lakes Region foes at the Towne Suites Classic hosted by the University of Findlay.

Lewis (7-4) lost 3-1 to Hillsdale Saturday afternoon and followed with a 3-0 loss to host Findlay.

Against Hillsdale, Lewis dropped the four-set match 19-30, 30-32, 30-28, 17-30. Junior Theresa Nugent carried the offense with 23 kills. Sophomore Becca Lisle was the only other Lewis player with double-digit kills, as she posted 11. Libero Andrea Morrone led the Flyer defense with a career-high 25 digs.

Later Saturday, Findlay bested Lewis 30-28, 30-19, 32-30 in a match that was closer than the 3-0 final indicated.

The Flyers hit a season-best .326 in the match, while holding Findlay to a .257 hitting percentage. Freshman Aubrey Dondlinger led the way for Lewis with 17 kills and a .519 hitting percentage. Nugent chipped in with 11 kills, seven digs and two blocks.

Junior middle hitter Charisse Steckling led Lewis with three blocks and added seven kills. Setter Abby Hodge handed out 42 assists in three games.

Lewis' next match will be its Great Lakes Valley Conference opener. The Flyers host Missouri-St. Louis at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16.
