BIG RAPIDS, Mich.--Freshman Courtney Kettel scored her first career goal to give the Lewis University women's soccer team a 1-0 halftime lead, but the Flyers were unable to hold on in a non-conference game against Ferris State (Mich.).
Ferris State (5-4) scored the gamewinner with a little more than 15 minutes to play. The Bulldogs tied the game two minutes into the second half at 47:09.
Kettel gave Lewis the lead at 35:17 when she scored on a long shot in the middle of the field. Senior Veronica Jimenez and freshman Bethanee Taylor earned assists on the play. Kettel is the seventh different player to score a goal for the Flyers this season.
Lewis was outshot 27-11 overall and 17-4 in shots on goal. Lewis goalkeeper Lindsay Frederick tallied 15 saves.
