Ryan Walker and Marcus Medsker combined for 37 points Saturday to lead Quincy past Lewis 72-62 in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
Branden Hunter netted 13 points to lead Lewis (10-9, 4-7 GLVC) in scoring for the first time in his career. Hunter added four assists and two steals. Stephan Bolt scored 11 points and grabbed a game-high nine rebounds, leading the Flyers in rebounding for a 15th time this season.
Brandon Dagans scored 11 points and Kendall Patterson tallied a career-high 10 points, while Pat Monaghan and Dustin Warfield secured six rebounds apiece for the Flyers, whose eight turnovers are their fewest in a GLVC game this season.
Walker scored 14 of his game-high 19 points in the second half for Quincy (12-7, 7-4 GLVC), which won for a fourth time in five games. Medsker had 18 points and five assists.
Jordan Roth posted 11 points, eight rebounds, four assists and three blocks, Andre Muse had seven rebounds and Bryan Feldner had a game-high seven assists for the Hawks.
The Flyers started quickly, jumping to a 6-0 lead and keeping Quincy off the scoreboard until the 16:40 mark of the first half.
Medsker scored seven points during a 16-4 run that gave Quincy its biggest lead of the half, 24-17, and the Hawks took a 28-24 edge into the break.
A Dagans layup pulled Lewis even at 32-32 with 15:02 to play. Four more ties followed, the last a 48-48 deadlock with 7:02 remaining.
Quincy took control from there, however, scoring the next seven points and maintaining at least a six-point lead the rest of the way.
The Flyers will try to snap their five-game winless skid Thursday at Rockhurst, one of three new GLVC members. Game time in Kansas City, Mo., is 7:30 p.m.
